Where we stayed, where we ate and what we did...

croatia photography travel explore split hvar adventure holiday travelling

Croatia was a place that kept coming in at the top of my "to-visit" list then disappearing and then coming back. We were due a summer holiday spent with friends and when Mirvet and Harry mentioned the trip to us we were sold and all tried our hardest to get 7 days off work at the same time. We might have left the apartment booking until very last minute but it all worked out well and we had an extremely good holiday. So we decided to visit Split for 3 nights and Hvar for 4 nights, we got return flights to Split that cost us 148 pounds.

Split and Hvar were similar but different, it's so hard to chose a favourite. We found them hard to research because most restaurants/bars aren't online but everything about Croatia was 100x better than what I had imagined. I felt more relaxed and on an a summer holiday in Hvar but in Split we did two day trips, one to Brela by coach and one to Krka National Park by rented car.

I wrote a day - to - day journal whilst away and thought that was how I would set out my Croatia travel guide but now I've decided against that and will carry on with how I usually do it.. so expect this up in a few days!

Beach Tote

My nan is a very talented seamstress, her work has been in Elle Decoration and she has worked with various celebrities and currently works with Sera of London (interior designer) and she makes beautiful cushions and lampshades.

Recently she made my sister a denim tote bag and I felt extremely jealous and messaged my nan right away asking for the same, love that she's on iMessage now. The day before my holiday to Croatia my bag arrived and I fell in love with it. It was used daily as a beach bag and I'm already making plans for her to make me a black denim one! (I'm planning to discuss making a batch with her too, let me know if you'd be interested!)

I've taken today as a recharge and look at my holiday snaps day and it's been great, tomorrow I'm repotting some plants and editing my holiday snaps, ready for the guides how exciting for you all.

I OUTRAN
MAY
WITH
MACMILLAN

I knew after doing my 10k last year that this year I wanted to run for charity however I'm not as fit as I was last year, but I was determined. So I ran 26.2 miles in under a month, I completed it by the 22nd. My target was to raise £204 and I managed to raise £301 which I'm extremely happy about. Here's my Just Giving page.

Usually if i'm aching I don't push myself to go running but when I ached I still went and even in the rain, I don't even know how I transitioned from hating running to loving it but I'm so glad. I used Strava and the Nike running app to map my routes but hugely prefer the Nike one, super easy to use. The longest run I managed to do was 7.30km in 48 minutes and this is where I noticed i've gone downhill in speed. Last year I did 8km in 54 minutes and 10k in 1 hour.

Since losing 3 stone, i've hit a block and my weight won't seem to budge to under 12 stone. My lowest weight I got to was 11 stone 6lbs and I'm worried I won't see that again. In January I said I wanted to lose 2 stone by summer, well it's basically summer and i've only lost a few pounds.

I'm thinking of doing the Hackney Half next year which will be big for me, so I'm going to carry on training!

Cheap, cheerful and relatively healthy.

I get home from work around 3pm usually very hungry and like to make a filling lunch a few hours before exercising, I usually go for a salad or something rice based. If you're like me and don't enjoy spending too much time in the kitchen or don't have much time to then you should try this.

Fry the cod fillet in oil, until cooked (roughly 5-8 minutes depending), add the spices to taste, I like spice so went a bit over board with the chilli. Add the pepper then after a few minutes add the microwavable pilau rice and some more chilli if it's not hot enough. Top it off with cooling avocado and coriander.

This took approx 15 minutes to put together, enjoy!

A day in the life of a food Instagrammer...

So just incase you didn't know I'm the big sister of the "well known-ish" Mr Jack Baker... have you seen his Instagram? I'd recommend checking him out when you're not feeling hungry!

So he asked if I wanted to check out some markets and I said yeah go for it. We headed to Brockley Market first a small-ish food market that takes place every Saturday, I had never heard of it before this day. I decided to go for the avocado on toasted sourdough topped with asparagus, curd, chicken egg and parmesan from Bill or Beak, such a tasty healthy breakfast.

To wash down the delicious breakfast I had a cup of 'Brockley Blend' from Good & Proper Tea Co, I'm not usually keen on take away tea but this tea was so good and worth the wait. Really wanted to try their sourdough crumpets as I've heard great things but was way too full up, next time!

Jack went for this beast of a breakfast burger from Mother Flipper, a double sausage patty, steamed cloched egg, potato rosti and candy bacon in an english toasted muffin. I was glad when he said he couldn't finish it all, it was probably the nicest breakfast burger i've ever tasted (now I'm trying to remember how many breakfast burgers I've even eaten..)

After filling ourselves up at Brockley we caught an Uber onto the next... Druid Street Market. I've been here once before but missed all the food which was a shame. After following Emily from Weligama for awhile on Instagram I finally got to try an egg hopper! (if you didn't know already I'm a huge egg lover) we went for the egg hopper served with pol sambal, seeni sambol and lemon pickle sided with pork curry. So tasty and flavoursome!

Despite being full up at this point, we shared some Korean BBQ Chicken wings with coriander salsa and crushed peanuts from Tata Eatery.

After Jack had some deep fried oysters we moved on to the sweet thangs (finally..) and after longing for a Blu Top ice cream sandwich for.. well since my brother first came here I finally got to try one! We obviously doubled up and got the lemon curd + buttermilk and salty caramel ice cream sandwiched between snickerdoodle and red velvet cookies topped with choc chips. I was not disappointed however it was a bit too chilly for ice cream but we managed!

Below are some salted caramel cornflake bocaditos that actually look too pretty to eat and above are caramel blondies.
